You must contact your AutoPASS provider to arrange to transfer your toll tag, or install a new tag. You can find an overview of the six companies that issue AutoPASS subscriptions here.
Sellers with an AutoPASS subscription must pay for all toll crossings until their user subscription has been registered as cancelled. Sellers must cancel their user subscription by notifying their subscription provider. It normally takes between one and five working days for the new ownership to be registered in the AutoPASS system after you cancel the subscription and transfer ownership.
See our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about invoices.
For the Seller: Cancel your AutoPASS subscription and remove the toll tag from the car you are selling. If not, you will be charged for toll crossings made by the new owner until the cancellation has been registered. It normally takes one to five working days for your notice of cancellation to be registered in the AutoPASS system and you are no longer being charged for toll crossings.
For the Buyer: When you buy a vehicle, make sure that the seller has cancelled their AutoPASS subscription before you take possession of the vehicle. If not, the seller can see the time, place and other information about the toll crossings in the user subscription until the cancellation has been registered. You cannot take out a new user subscription with the same tag issuer used by the seller until the seller has cancelled their subscription.
Invoices for all vehicles will be sent directly to the owner registered in the Motor Vehicle Register until an AutoPASS subscription has been taken out. Subscription holders will be invoiced directly as long as their subscription is valid.
Bought a new car? You will receive invoices from Fjellinjen until you take out an AutoPASS subscription. Once you have taken out a subscription, you will be directly invoiced by your AutoPASS subscription provider.
Sold your car? You will be responsible for the toll crossings made with your car until the change of ownership has been registered in the Motor Vehicle Register. If you do not have an AutoPASS subscription for your car, the new owner will automatically be charged for toll crossings from the date the change of ownership is registered in the Motor Vehicle Register.
