Fjellinjen has collected and managed more than NOK 50 billion in toll charges since 1990. The funds are used to finance new traffic solutions in Greater Oslo.
Fjellinjen registers around 32 million passages per month and is responsible for the operation and development of equipment and software in 83 toll stations in and around Oslo.
Since its inception in 1990, tolls have contributed to making Rådhusplassen in Oslo car-free and relocating traffic in Bjørvika to a tunnel underground, creating an entirely new district.
Fjellinjen has financed a large-scale public transportation initiative, including the expansion of the metro ring line and Lørenbanen. Toll revenues have also financed new subway cars and trams, as well as several new bus terminals and public transportation hubs in Oslo and Akershus.
In the coming years, funds from Fjellinjen will contribute to the construction of the Fornebu metro line and a new signaling system for the subway.
The company is owned by the Oslo municipality (60 percent) and Akershus county municipality (40 percent). Its main task is to contribute to financing Oslo Package 3, a coordinated plan for road construction, operation, and expansion of public transportation in Oslo and Akershus.
Every day, Fjellinjen registers more than a million toll crossings at our 83 toll stations. This is what happens when you pass a toll station.
